Analysis

Anthropomorphism is an attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behaviour to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena. In this case we see Anthropomorphism in the form of an animal and the attribute of human motivation that the animals show like Richard Parker's need to survival and his determination to survive

In the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel, there are two stories, The human one, where Pi is on the boat with his mother, the sailor and a cook and an animal story where there is a Richard Parker (the tiger), Orange Juice (the orangutan), a hyena and a zebra. The animal story is said to be a Anthropomorphic version to the story, a version with human characteristics and behaviour applied to an animal.

Did you know Anthropomorphism is actually used extensively in Religion and Mythology. Most cases of religious stories and mythology stories are actually signs of anthropomorphism, Instead of applying human characteristics to animals, they apply them to any non-human being, such as gods. We see gods take on the form of humans in most cases and express feelings to mankind such as, greed, love, etc.
